Event Description

This beginner-level webinar is for clinical and veterinary laboratory professionals to understand how to report select agent and toxin identifications and recognize and report exposure incidents. This presentation will also address biosafety and other considerations when identifying bacterial select agents and toxins using Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry (MS).

Event Objectives

After completing this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify educational and other resources available through the OneLab Network
  • Demonstrate reporting the identification of a select agent or toxin in a specimen presented for diagnosis or verification
  • Recognize information related to the misidentification of a select agent on the MALDI-TOF instrument
