Event Description

This presentation provides an overview of the importance of accurate, reliable test results in patient care and public health research. It will inform participants on how CDC Clinical Standardization Program activities help clinical laboratories and test developers ensure accurate testing that aligns with clinical practice guidelines for chronic diseases. Additionally, the session will describe how CDC programs complement the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA)-required activities.

Event Objectives

After completing this training, participants will be able to: 

  • Identify educational and other resources available through the OneLab Network.
  • Explain the necessity for laboratory tests to be accurate and reliable across laboratories 
  • Describe how Clinical Standardization Programs support the use of clinical practice guidelines and enhance data interoperability 
  • Summarize how Clinical Standardization Programs complement External Quality Assessment and Proficiency Testing programs
