Assessing Laboratory Training Needs
Course Description
A training needs assessment is a process that identifies the gap between the current and desired performance of laboratory staff, then selecting the best training solution to close the gap. This course guides learners through the application of CDC’s Quality Training Standard #1: Training needs assessment informs training development. The strategies and practices covered are adaptable across different laboratory training types, including eLearning, in-person training, and hands-on approaches such as the “See one, do one, teach one” method.
Audience
This basic-level course is intended for public health and clinical laboratory professionals who develop and deliver laboratory training.

Objectives
At the end of this course, learners should be able to:
- Explain the process for conducting a laboratory training needs assessment.
